The Andrew Grene Foundation - and why we ride

So here is the story behind why we are doing the London to Paris ride.

The Andrew Grene Foundation is named in honor of a close friend of the Perutz family. Simon Perutz is one of our riders, and Tim Perutz his brother was a classmate of Andrew and Andrew's brother Gregory at University. Andrew Grene perished in the collapse of the UN peacekeeping Mission in Haiti during the earthquake.

Andrew worked tirelessly for the United Nations in many of the world's most challanged countries with an unwavering belief in the work he was doing.

The Foundation's mission is to fund grassroots transformational change in Haiti, through education and micro-financing.

As its first project the Foundation is building the Andrew Grene High School in Cite Soleil, one of the poorest parts of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The school is important because no secondary school currently exists in Cite Soleil. The Foundation broke ground in June and the school should be complete at the end of August, just in time for the 2011/2012 school year.

... and this is Simon and Tim in Colorado where Simon has been training on the hills
